During the inspection the licensing representative discussed with the center director: - children's emergency contacts - children's immunization records
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 2:30pm-4:45pm. A total of 103 children were observed in the care of 13 staff members. Children were observed during [blank]. A sample of 10 children's records, 5 staff records, emergency drills/supplies and procedures were reviewed. Children were observed during snack, homework, outdoor play and while engaged in crafts, blocks, board games and imaginative play. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-F Description: Based on observation, one child was not within actual sight and sound supervision of staff. Evidence: For approximately 10 seconds, Child #1 [9 years old] was observed entering the building from the outdoor playground. They were unaccompanied while walking down a hallway to return to the cafeteria. Plan of Correction: A door which usually provides additional vision to the hallway was closed. We will make sure that door remains open to ensure that children coming from outside remain in sight and sound supervision.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E Description: Based on a review of records and interview, the center did not maintain a record of practiced drills for years. Evidence: There was no record of emergency drills practiced for the previous program year [September 2017-June 2018]. Plan of Correction: We will request a copy from the central office.
