An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:15am-11:45am. There were 30 children (2-5yrs.) supervised by 7 direct care staff. The physical plant, 2 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed drawing on the chalkboard, making feather prints, playing with puzzles, cards, flags, blocks, eating snack, and engaging in other various Montessori activities. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-A Description: Based on record review, 2 of 2 staff records did not contain documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening, submitted no later than 21 days after employment. Evidence: Staff A (date of hire: 9/5/2018) and Staff B's (date of hire: 9/5/2018) records did not contain documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening. Plan of Correction: I will have them do them this week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review, the center did not implement a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year. Evidence: The center had one shelter-in-place drill documented for 2017. Plan of Correction: We will do 2 this year.
Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-E-2 Description: Based on observation, the center did not have the findings of the most recent inspection of the facility posted. Evidence: The most recent violation notice posted was dated 10/28/2016. The most recent inspection was conducted on 5/17/2018. Plan of Correction: I will post today's.
