Comments:
Today an unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between the hours of 4:10pm and 5:40pm. I observed 36 children directly supervised by 4 staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed reading books, doing homework, listening to a story, playing with legos, participating in group play, and playing on the playground outside. Staff were actively engaged with the children and assisting them with tasks as needed. The physical plant, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. The cafeteria was found to be clean, safeguarded appropriately, and adequately supplied with equipment and supplies. Medication management was in compliance. Required staff training documents were on-site. Required documents posted. Record keeping was in compliance. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. Questions about this inspection may be directed to: maria.soto@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-B
Description: Based on review of the emergency preparedness plan and interview with staff, the center did not ensure that the emergency preparedness plan contained all required information. Evidence: During the inspection the center's preparedness plan was missing the following: The evacuation assembly area, primary and secondary means of egress and assembly point, location of evacuation site away from the center, designated shelter-in-place assembly points, and primary and secondary means of access and egress. The plan needs to be site specific.

Plan of Correction: We'll have it completed by Tuesday the 30th.
