Discussed with center management Daily Health Observation, staff trainings.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 7:35am to 8:30am. There were 14 children present with 2 caregivers. The children were observed arriving to the center, playing with games and transitioning to school. Medications. 2 staff records and 5 children records were reviewed. Evacuation drills were conducted and recorded. Areas of non-compliance are listed in the violatio notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-A Description: Based on record review, staff did not not receive training by the end of their first day of assuming job responsibilities for recognizing child abuse and neglect. Evidence: Staff # 2's first day of employment was listed as 4/16/18. Staff # 2's records did not have any documentation to show that she had received training on recognizing chid abuse and neglect. Plan of Correction: We will have Staff # 2 complete the training.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-5 Description: Based on record review, there were no staff on duty who had had obtained the daily health observation training within the last three years. Evidence: Staff # 1 and Staff # 2 were present during the inspection. Staff # 1 and Staff # 2 did not have the daily health observation training certification. Plan of Correction: We are looking into it and will get it completed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on observation, a prescription emergency medication was not maintained in it's original packaging with the prescription label, and written parental authorization was not obtained for an allergy medication. Evidence: 1. There was an Epipen on site for Child # 1 with a diagnosed food allergy. The Epipen was not maintained in it's original package with the prescription label. 2. There was another allergy medication for Child # 1 for which the center did not obtain written parental authorization. Plan of Correction: We will follow up with the parents and get the packaging and written permission.
