Technical assistance was provided in the following areas of the standards: 22VAC40-191 (Background checks); 22VAC40-185-(2)-160 (TB screening); 22VAC40-185-(8)-560 (Infant feeding)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 10/26/18 from 10:05am - 12:10pm. During the inspection there were 42 children ages four months old through two years old in care with 13 staff. Children were observed participating in various activities in the classrooms, playing outside, eating lunch, and during rest period. Records were reviewed for five children and nine staff. There was no medication at the facility. Emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed during the inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-A Description: Based on a review of nine staff records, it was determined that the licensee did not ensure that each staff member shall submit documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening. Documentation of the screening shall be submitted no later than 21 days after employment and shall have been completed within 12 months prior to or 21 days after employment starts. Evidence: 1. The record for staff #2 (date of hire 9/16/18) did not include documentation of a negative TB screening. 2. Staff #10 reviewed the record for staff #2, and confirmed that a negative TB screening has not been received. Plan of Correction: The facility responded: Staff #2 completed a TB screening, but has not brought it to the center. If she does not provide it, she will be sent to complete a new TB screening. All new staff will complete A TB screening prior to beginning employment.
