- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included sweeping the pebbles after rain in the playground to maintain a resilient surfacing.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10 am - 12:45 pm. There were 37 children present with 6 staff in one building, and 24 with 5 staff in the second building. One class was on a field trip to the National Gallery. I observed children in the playground discovering and observing 2 butterfly chrysalis hanging from the playground shed and fence; and a large praying mantis hanging on a bush. I also saw children painting and pasting; dancing to "Turkey in the Straw" and involved in dress up and dramatic play. Parent teacher confererences were also done today. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation today, there were some areas that were not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: Outdoors: There was splintering wood and some sharp metal on the bottom of the children's playhouse. Indoors: There were areas of chipping paint in classrooms, and a broken lock under the sink in diapering area of the Elves room where cleaners were stored today. This was cited on 5/18. Plan of Correction: I will get Noel to fix it.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there were some hazardous substances such as cleaning materials not kept in a locked place as required. Evidence: The utility room next to the open kitchen was unlocked, and cleaning chemicals were stored there. In a room upstairs, there was a container of bleach wipes in an unlocked cabinet in the children's room. Plan of Correction: These will be locked.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on observation today, there was a child's medication present on site after it was no longer in use. Evidence: An asthma medication for Child # 1 was present although he is no longer enrolled in the school. Plan of Correction: We will call the parent to pick it up.
