- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding the safety of the children in regards to all the clear glass walls in the classrooms, ensure all chemicals are locked up and inaccessible to children, crib sheets should be tight fitting to ensure safety of sleeping infants, and the placement of changing tables. We also discussed that the playground cannot be used by the children before it is inspected by a Licensing Inspector.
An announced initial inspection was conducted today with the director. The inspection was initiated at 10:00 am and concluded at 1:30 pm. The facility plans to provide care for children 2 months through 6 years 11 months. At the time of the inspection, the center was not fully operational and do not have any staff hired or children enrolled, therefore, standards relating to supervision, staff qualifications and children's records could not be reviewed. The approved Certificate of Occupancy is for 90 children. The Licensing Inspectors measured the six designated classrooms that will be used by the program for verification. The square footage of the designated areas supports the capacity request of 90 children. The outside play area is not complete and could not be inspected today. The Licensing Inspectors reviewed emergency supplies, and the center's emergency preparedness plan. Meals will be provided by the center each day. The non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The facility had emergency numbers, evacuation map/procedures. An unannounced follow-up inspection will be conducted within 60 days to determine compliance with standards not determined at the initial inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-A Description: Based on review of emergency supplies, the required first aid kit did not include all the necessary components. Evidence: The first aid kit was missing adhesive tape and antiseptic cleaner. Plan of Correction: I will add those items to the first aid kit by Friday.
