A discussion was held regarding what trainings and staff development programs are held on an ongoing basis.
- Comments:

A monitoring inspection took place to investigate a self-reported incident that occurred on December 4, 2018. The incident involved the use of constructive behavioral guidance and redirection of a child by a staff member. After interviewing management and reviewing the video footage of the incident, the preponderance of evidence supports behavior guidance that was not constructive was executed as well as redirection of the child was not instituted. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-B Description: Based on video footage of event and staff interviews behavioral guidance was not constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate and did not redirect the child to appropriate behavior or resolve the conflict.
Evidence:
On December 4, 2018, staff #1 was observed holding a child by the upper arms and moving him to the side to remove a toy from his hands.
Staff #1 did not redirect the child to try to resolve the conflict or use behavior guidance that was constructive in nature.Plan of Correction: Staff member was terminated. A retraining of all staff will be regarding positive and appropriate behavior guidance and what guidance constructive in nature looks like.
