An unannounced inspection was completed on November 30, 2018 from approximately 12:30p.m. to 1:30p.m. in response to a complaint received on October 30, 2018 regarding concerns with Physical Plant, Housekeeping and Sanitation, and Nutrition and Food Services. Staff and children were observed during nap time, diapering, staff were interviewed and the indoor and outdoor space was inspected. The Director was available for the interview and inspection and was present for the exit interview at which time the inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left with the licensee. The complaint is determined to be valid for Nutrition and Food Services. There was one citation for a violation of the Standards for Child Day Centers, related to the complaint. See the violation notice of the Department?s public web site for violations of the Standards.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation, the licensee failed to ensure that when food is brought from home, the food containers shall be dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner for children's food containers. Evidence: 1. The children?s lunch boxes were observed in three classrooms in use during the inspection. Thirteen lunch boxes out of approximately twenty-seven contained no date or identified owner. 2. Administrator #1 acknowledged these lunch boxes were not labeled and dated. Plan of Correction: The Director has already sent out a notice to parent's reminding them to label their child's lunch boxes. The Director will implement a process to ensure that all lunch boxes are labeled per the Standards.
