63.2 Facilities & Programs.
A complaint investigation was initiated on November 13, 2018 and ended on December 11, 2018 regarding the facility's emergency preparedness plan, and physical plant. Interviews were conducted, documentation was reviewed and physical plant was observed. The preponderance of evidence supports the complaint being deemed valid with regards to the posted emergency procedures and the natural play area. The complaint related violations are identified on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation, areas of the center, inside and out, are not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: Children utilizing the outdoor nature area have open access to a drainage ditch with deep standing water, which is a potential hazard. Plan of Correction: Steps have been taken to ensure proper drainage of the ditch in coordination with Fairfax Co. If standing water does re-emerge, barriers will be put in place prior to classes going outdoors.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-C Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation, emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures/maps were not posted in a location conspicuous to staff and children. Evidence: Emergency evacuation maps that were posted did not contain procedures. Plan of Correction: Procedures will be posted in addition to maps. Staff have been notified of map/evacuation procedure locations. Handbook has been updated
