22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)

Licensing Inspector arrived at 11:00 AM and departed at 1:30 PM to conduct a mandated monitoring inspection. All classrooms and areas used by children were inspected. Medication was reviewed and allowable variances were reviewed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on inspection of the physical plant, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all hazardous substances be kept in locked places. Evidence: The following hazardous substances were found in unlocked locations during the inspection: - Red Room ? Clorox wipes, aerosol air freshener, shaving cream in cabinet above the counter (child proof latch not catching). A spray bottle labeled ?disinfectant? on the counter unattended. - Bathroom between Green and Gold rooms ? Clorox bleach pads, Lysol bathroom cleaner, gallon of Sta Flo Starch ? all in an unlocked cabinet above the toilet. - Gold Room ? Pump Hand sanitizer, container sanitizing wipes, spray bottle of Windex window cleaner ? all in an unlocked cabinet above the counter. - Purple Room ? 2 cans of shaving cream, 2 pump hand sanitizers, glass cleaner ? all in unlocked cabinet above the counter. - Blue Room ? Aerosol Electronic Duster, Goo Gone, 2 containers of sanitizing wipes, spray Febreeze, can of WD 40 all in an unlocked cabinet above the counter. - 4 gallon containers of Germicidal Detergent and a bottle of Food Lion Ultra Dish Detergent in an unlocked cabinet under the counter in Club 5

Plan of Correction: All substances were locked during the inspection. All staff will be retrained in proper storage of hazardous substances.

Description: Based on review of the physical plant, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all medication was kept in a locked place using a safe locking method. Evidence: - Red Room - Bottle of Allegra ? unlocked cabinet above the counter (safety clasp no longer catches) - Yellow Room ? 2 bottles of Ibuprofen ? unlocked cabinet above counter - Purple Room ? bag of cough drips ? unlocked cabinet above counter - Green Room ? Delsyn cough syrup ? unlocked cabinet above counter

Plan of Correction: All medication was placed in locked locations during the inspection. Staff will be retrained to keep all personal medications in locked locations.
