Technical Assistance:
Ways to help transition a crying child into a classroom after being dropped off was discussed with the Assistant Director:

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:40am -11:30pm. Upon arrival there were 73 children in care with 14 staff present. A sample of 7 children and 3 staff records were reviewed. Children were observed playing in learning centers and during circle time. Infants were observed sleeping in cribs, being fed and being sung to by staff.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on a record review the center did not ensure all required information was kept for each enrolled child: Child # 4, enrolled on 09/04/18, did not have documentation of one of the two required emergency contact addresses.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee: Missing information will be requested from the parent today 1/3/19. Moving forward management will ensure that all required information is completed during the pre enrollment paperwork appointment.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all requirements were met when diapering. Evidence: In the 2 year-old room a staff member was observed changing a baby's diaper. The staff member placed the soiled diaper on the changing table and did not use the foot operated diaper pail.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee: Staff will be retrained on or before 1/8/19 on all proper diaper changing policies. Management will observe weekly for compliance.
