An unannounced mandated Monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:45am to 2:00 pm. There were 23 children present with 5 caregivers. Children were observed cutting paper, practicing number sequence, coloring rhino tusks, listening to music and reading a book. Reviewed 5 staff files, 3 children's files, emergency evacuation log and supplies, medications, menu, daily schedule, playgrounds and physical plant. Violations of the standards are recorded on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C Description: Based on record review, staff did obtain results of a follow up TB screening every two years. Evidence: Staff#1 did not have a current TB test result. Last test result was dated 8/27/16; expired 8/27/18. Plan of Correction: I will have her get one, or a doctor's note because she's pregnant.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-H Description: Based on observation, potentially harmful agents were not stored inaccessible to children. Evidence: Staff purses were observed in an open cabinet accessible to children. This violation was corrected during the inspection. Plan of Correction: We are going to have a re-training session with staff
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review, a minimum of two shelter in place practice drills per year were not conducted. Evidence: Documentation and interview with Administrator revealed the center has not conducted the required 2 shelter in place drills. Plan of Correction: I will contact the fire marshal/police to give us assistance on the procedure and then we will ensure we do 2 per year.
