Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-3 Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on multiple interviews and review of records, the facility did not ensure staff-to-child ratio requirements were in compliance. The requirements for 2 year olds state one staff member for every eight children.
Evidence: On January 2, 2019, at approximately 8:45am, 16 children between the ages of 2-3 were present with 1 staff member; Staff #1.
Plan of Correction: During the morning of January 2, 2019 we had 3 teachers scheduled out and two others who were unable to come to work. With that said, we have since adjusted staff's schedules to help cover the classrooms and ratios in the morning time frame. We have also begun looking for substitute staff to help support the instance of teachers needing to be scheduled off and the unexpected event of sickness. We will also be retraining our staff one on one regarding the importance of proper scheduling, appropriate call outs ad arriving to work in a timely fashion. The adjustments to staff schedules have been immediately implemented and we will be monitoring any future need for further support with our classrooms moving forward.
