An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director beginning at 9:20 am and ending at 12:20 pm. There were 31 children in care of eight staff during the inspection. The children's ages ranged between seven weeks and four years old. The children were observed during free play and learning the alphabets during circle time. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on review of five staff records the center did not have written documentation of at least two reference checks for all staff prior to employment. Evidence: Staff A with a hire date of 3/16/18 did not have documentation of reference checks. Plan of Correction: We found the reference check and placed in the file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-370-1 Description: Based on observation the center did not move infants that had fallen asleep in a bouncy seat on the floor to a crib. Evidence: Two infants were sleeping in bouncy seats with their heads bent down and to the side. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection . All infants will only sleep in cribs.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-450-C Description: Based on interviews with staff and observations the infant crib sheets are not being changed daily. Evidence: The staff in the infant room stated they were only changing the crib sheets weekly. Plan of Correction: Cribs sheets will be changed daily.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation the center did not dispose of soiled diapers in a foot operated storage system. Evidence: In the Toddler room there were soiled diapers sticking out of top of a small trash can accessible to the children. Plan of Correction: A foot operated diaper pail was placed in the bathroom.
