The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection, at which play groups, movie time, group time, show-n-tell, activities, personal hygiene, and lunch time were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Sixty-eight (68) children, aged 10 weeks-5 years, were found to be in care with 11 staff, kitchen staff, and administrative staff. Previous violations were reviewed, and had been corrected. Please contact me if you need further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation. This inspection began at 9:15am and concluded at 11:30am.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on review of medications the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to labeling of medications. Evidence: The medication for child B, Amoxicillin, did not have the pharmacy label identifying the owner/prescription on the bottle as required. Plan of Correction: The parent brought in the medication this morning, for one dose for today only. The parent will be notified upon pick up of the child that medications must contain the pharmacy label, and identifying information as required. Medications will be reviewed closely for compliance when parents provide it to the center in the future.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E Description: Based on review of medications the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to expired medications. Evidence: The epi-pen for child D had expired as of 9/2018 and was in the locked medication box with an active long term use permission form for emergency dosage for allergic reaction to nuts. Plan of Correction: The parent of the child was immediately notified of the expired epi-pen during the inspection. The parent stated she does have a new epi-pen and had just not brought it in yet. Medications will be reviewed for compliance and any corrections will be made to ensure future compliance.
