An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:30am-1:00pm. At the time of entrance, 61 children were in care with 10 staff members present. Children were observed during circle time, playing at the water table and centers, snack time, engaged in group activities, playing with legos, puzzles and coloring. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, medications and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. . Interactions between the children and staff were positive. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center inside were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. In the Prek-2 classroom, the floor board had blue paint chipping or peeling off near the home living center. 2. In the Prek-2 classroom, a red chair had fabric peeling off the chair. Plan of Correction: I will put in a work order today.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain the results of a search of the central registry by another state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years. Evidence: 1. Staff #1 began employment on 12/18/2018 and had lived in Washington DC in the past 5 years. The center had not sent for the central registry in DC and the employee has worked more than 30 days at the center. Plan of Correction: I will send off for it.
