Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to have each staff sanitize the diapering surface after each use as required. Evidence: in the twos room, the staff person changed one child's diaper, cleaned the diapering surface with soap and water, and changed a second child's diaper. The staff person did not sanitize [treat in such a way to remove bacteria and viruses from inanimate surfaces through using a disinfectant solution (i.e., bleach solution or commercial chemical disinfectant) or physical agent (e.g., heat)] the diapering surface after each use. The staff stated that she typically sanitizes the pad at the end of diapering the children. Plan of Correction: Center administrator personally viewed each staff member on diapering procedures that afternoon. In addition, we will add to our training log reviewing these procedures with all staff weekly.
