A mandated Renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:30 to 2:00 pm. There were 138 children present with 19 staff present. Children were observed painting, doing puzzles, building a town, listening in shells to hear the ocean, reading, having large motor activities, napping, handwashing and lunch. Reviewed 7 children's files, 5 staff files, Fire and Health Inspection, Emergency Evacuation drill log, attendance, menu, medications and authorizations, and physical plant. Violations of the Standards are recorded on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on record review, staff files were incomplete. Evidence: Staff#1 did not have documentation of 2 or more references. Only one was complete, with 2 others indicating voicemails had been left. Plan of Correction: Have received all references and added to file
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A Description: Based on record review, an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official was not available for review during this inspection. Evidence: Staff were not able to obtain documentation of annual fire inspection. Plan of Correction: We will get a copy and send it to you

Evidence: Staff purses were observed accessible to children, which is a potential hazard. Plan of Correction: Reviewed that all personal items must be locked away
Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-A-7 Description: Based on observation, the center is not operating within the limitations of the License. Evidence: License stipulations indicate children under the age of 2 1/2 years shall be limited to Rooms 207, 208, and 209. During this inspection, children under 2 1/2 were observed in Rooms 211, 212, 213 and in the basement rooms 100B, 101A, 104. Plan of Correction: Meeting/dicussing with Inspector and Administrator from DSS.
