Discussed Emergency battery powered weather band radio and keeping batteries in plastic bag attached to radio.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today. The inspection began at 9:50am and concluded at 1:15pm. There were 96 children on site with 14 care givers. There was a complete inspection of the physical plant as well as the accident/incident logs, attendance logs, evacuation drills, shelter in place drills, medications, staff training, children and staff files. The children were observed playing outside on the playground, playing inside, reading books, working on their letters, telling stories and using magnetic letters with storyboards. The were also observed hand washing and having lunch. Lunch consisted of cheeseburgers, corn, bananas and milk. Teacher, teacher assistants and children's interactions all were very positive. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas inside the center were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: Paint is chipping off the corners of the wall in classroom #5. Plan of Correction: I have put in a work order with the county, work order # 2129560.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevented access by children. Evidence: Three bottles of hand sanitizer were left unlocked and accessible to children in classroom #6 Plan of Correction: Made sure that all staff was aware that hand sanitizer had to be locked away.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on record review, the center did not maintain complete staff records. Evidence: Staff #3 of 5 staff files reviewed did not have a central registry report within 30 days of employment. Plan of Correction: Contacted Central Registry to get information, have not gotten a return call from them yet, but I am keeping a log.
