An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 8:30am -11:00am. Upon arrival there were 30 children in care with 7 staff present. A sample of 2 staff and 3 children's records were reviewed. The center did not have any medications or children with food allergies. Children were observed during circle time, a bathroom break, hand washing and singing songs.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure where playground equipment is provided, resilient surfacing shall comply with minimum safety standards when tested in accordance with the procedures described in the American Society for Testing and Materials standard F1292-99. Evidence: The playground had a large composite structure, two swings and a plastic slide on the playground that had less than 2 inches of resilient surfacing in the fall zones. Six inches is required. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the program director during the exit interview: The director has placed a work order with the board for mulch, however it has not been able to be delivered due to weather. The program director will talk with the board this week to have it installed within the next weeks.
