The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection on Monday, February 25, 2019 from approximately 9:20 am to 11:30 am to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The licensing inspector observed 21 children being supervised by 4 staff including the site supervisor. During the inspection, the licensing inspector conducted observations of the children in care participating in various activities to include watching television on carpet, participating in circle time, completing attendance, working on name recognition, weather, and listening skills, dancing to interactive music, participating in various centers, and engaged in story time. The program is participating in Dr. Seuss birthday week and today's theme is hat day. The licensing inspector also completed observation of parent drop off. The program's designated childcare areas, bathrooms, and outdoor playground area were inspected. The first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. There were five children's records reviewed by the inspector. The licensing inspector reviewed four staff's emergency contact and required certificate of completion. Medication is being administered, medications, and written authorizations were reviewed for the center's compliance. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: During the inspection on February 25, 2019, an unlocked cabinet in the classroom area was observed containing two bottles of cleaning supplies, one with the labels "warning" and "keep out of reach of children". Plan of Correction: The Center Supervisor will ensure all hazardous substances are kept in a locked place with a safe locking method.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all electrical outlets have protective covers. Evidence: During the inspection on February 25, 2019, there was an electrical outlet missing a protective cover accessible to children which was nearby the program's circle time area. Plan of Correction: The Center Supervisor will ensure all electrical outlets have a protective cover when not in use.
