Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced monitoring inspection. This on-site visit was conducted on March 5, 2019 from 11:24 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. There were ninety-seven children in the care of seventeen staff. No medication is being administered. Nine children's records were reviewed and eight staff records were reviewed. Twelve additional staff records were reviewed at Bright Beginnings Corporate offices on August 15, 2018. Areas of non-compliance may be found on the violation notice. Areas observed were: infant feeding, infant nap, hand washing bathroom procedures, outside play, transition, story time, movement, lunch and nap. Interactions between the children and staff were observed as appropriate and the children seem comfortable with the daily routine and schedule. Please contact me at 540-430-9256 if you have any questions and/or if I may be of assistance with licensing standards.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-1 Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure the ratio was followed in one classroom, for children birth to sixteen months of age. Evidence: 1. At approximately 11:32 a.m. nine children, eleven through seventeen months of age, were observed being supervised by two staff, in Classroom #2. 2. Staff #1 said, " one new child was just dropped off." 3. At approximately 11:40 a.m. one additional staff member entered Classroom #2. 4. The ratio for children birth through seventeen months of age is one staff for every four children. Classroom #2 was not in ratio from approximately 11:32 a.m. through 11:40 a.m. Plan of Correction: We will retrain our staff and send out a formal memo to parents reminding them of the right to refuse drop off due to illness and ratio. Parents will be reminded they will need to wait with their child until staff have been placed to ensure compliance with licensing standards.

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K.
