63.2 Facilities & Programs.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 3/8/19 from 10:40am until 1:25pm. At the time of the tour, there were 66 children in care with 9 staff. A sample of 7 children's records and 7 staff records were reviewed. Children were observed engaging in free play, story time, music and movement, eating lunch and resting quietly during nap time. Hand washing and lunch service procedures were also observed. Medication, first aid and emergency supplies, the emergency preparedness plan, documentation of emergency practice drills, children's injury reports and center postings were reviewed. One violation in the area of physical plant is identified on the violation notice and was discussed with the center owner during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The wooden climber on the playground has areas of rotting wood and peeling paint. 2. The center owner confirmed that the wooden climber has areas of rotten wood and peeling paint. Plan of Correction: The center owner stated they will remove the structure from the playground.
