Today an unannounced Renewal Inspection was conducted between the hours of 10:40am and 3:30pm. There were 6 classrooms observed with a total of 53 children with 10 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed doing puzzles, being read to, playing on the playground and napping. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, medication and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on record review, medication was kept on-site without written parental authorization to administer. Evidence: Child #7 and Child #8 have emergency medication kept on-site in case of an accidental ingestion of an allergen. A written authorization to administer each medication has not been obtained for each child. Plan of Correction: We'll provide copies of the authorization form to the parents to fill out.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on record review, the center has not obtain a long-term medication authorization for a medication that has been kept on-site for more than 10 days. Evidence: Child #7 has an emergency medication kept on-site in case of an accidental ingestion of an allergen. The authorization to administer was signed by the child's parents on 1/15/2019. There is no physician's signature authorizing the long-term use of this medication. Plan of Correction: We'll provide copies of the authorization form to the physician to fill out.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-A Description: Based on observation, over-the-counter skin products were kept beyond their expiration. Evidence: Child #6's skin product expired 11/2018. Plan of Correction: We'll start doing monthly checks at the end of each month.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E Description: Based on observation, bottles were not labeled with the date. Evidence: 2 out of 15 bottles in the infant classroom did not contain today's date. Plan of Correction: We'll do a better with our daily health observations.
