The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection from 10:00am - 11:15am. There were five preschool children in care with three staff. The children were observed playing in the centers, playing dress-up and drawing. Three staff's records and five children's records were reviewed. Violations from the previous inspection were also reviewed and two were repeated. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center failed to maintain the facility in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the entrance ramp to the building. There is a broken spindle in the railing that has sharp edges. Plan of Correction: The Education Supervisor will do a work order to fix the ramp.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation and measurement, the center failed to maintain the resilient surfacing at the required 6 inches depth. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the playground and measured the resilient surfacing (mulch). There was 2 to 3 inches of resilient surfacing under and surrounding the climber. The fall height of the equipment is 36 inches. Plan of Correction: The Education Supervisor will do a work order to fix playground with wood chips. The children will not play on the climber until additional wood chips are added.
