When using equipment please ensure that you review minimum and maximum recommended ages/weight and use for: l. Angeles Bye-Bye Buggy Infant Seat (birth to six months) 2. Angeles Bye-Bye Buggy Stroller (6 months to 36 months) 3. KinderVan Stroller (6 months to 36 months) 4. Boppy Pillow (3 months for propping, 6 months for tummy time and 9 months for sitting) Discussion with staff regarding the need to check on sleeping infants every 15 to 20 minutes.
An unannounced complaint investigation was initiated on 3/5/19. The complaint concerned allegations of staff ratios, age and stage use of equipment and use of cribs while infants are sleeping. Observation of the Infant 1 classroom was made and staff interviews were conducted. Manufacturer's recommendations for use of equipment, staff sign in sheets and child attendance sheets were reviewed. The preponderance of evidence does not support the allegations and the complaint has been deemed not valid. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Complaint related: No Description: Based on observation of the Infant 1 room, hand washing procedures were not followed. Evidence: l. Licensing Inspector observed Staff #1 wipe a child's nose and failed to wash their hands afterwards. 2. Staff #2 failed to wash their hands after diapering a child and proceeded to pick a pacifier and a baby bottle up without washing their hands first. Plan of Correction: Infant Staff will be re-trained in health and safety and handwashing procedures.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-M Complaint related: No Description: Based on observation of the Infant 1 class, staff did not sit with children while they ate. Evidence: One child was eating in a tray table without staff sitting with them. Plan of Correction: Staff will sit with infants when eating.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-B Complaint related: No Description: Based on observation of the Infant 1 room, one infant was not held when bottle fed. Evidence: Licensing Inspector observed one infant who can not hold their own bottle was placed in a boppy pillow. Staff #2 was observed feeding the infant a baby bottle. Infants who can not hold their own bottles must be held when fed. Plan of Correction: All infants will be held when bottle bed if reclining high chair or infant carrier is not available.
