An unannounced investigation was conducted 02/15/2019 in response to a complaint regarding the care and protection of children. During the investigation staff were interviewed, staff and children's files were reviewed and the infant room was observed. The preponderance of evidence does not support the allegations. This complaint has been determined to be not valid. A violation was found that is not related to the complaint. The exit interview was conducted with the owner. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-180-B Complaint related: No Description: Based on interview with staff and record review, staff were not capable of carrying out assigned responsibilities. Evidence: 1) Despite documentation of orientation which included training in child abuse and neglect, Staff A, B and C denied receiving the training and denied knowledge of a mandated reporter and the responsibilities of a mandated reporter. 2)Staff A, B and C stated that in the event they witnessed a child being abused by staff they would talk to the staff that was witnessed abusing the child. They did not understand their responsibility to ensure a report was made to the local department of social services in accordance with ? 63.2-1509 of the Code of Virginia. Plan of Correction: We will remind staff of the mandated course of action.
