Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:20am-12:00pm. There were 17 children directly supervised by 6 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, Owner background checks, staff training, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in outdoor play including games lead by teachers, reading books, singing, and reciting the pledge of allegiance. Infants were observed to be napping and crawling in a protected area. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. NO medications were present during today's inspection. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, not all areas of the center were maintained in a clean and operable condition. Evidence: 1. Rust was observed around the drain and on the left faucet handle in the bathroom used by the toddler classroom 2. On the playground a toy ATV was observed with the seat removed and battery wires exposed.

Plan of Correction: We will place a request to have the rust removed. The broken toy was disposed of during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, not all hazardous materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: A bottle of bleach and water spray was observed in an unlocked cabinet in the preschool room.

Plan of Correction: The cabinet will be locked.
