- Technical Assistance:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection Tuesday, March 19, 2018 from 11:50am to 1:45pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The children were observed resting on cots during the inspection. Five children's records and two staff records were reviewed during this inspection. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last emergency drill: 02/04/2019 Last shelter in place drill: 11/05/2018 Lockdown drill : 04/06/2018 Total enrollment today: 18 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Toddlers-5:1 Preschool (2 years old to 4 years old)-13:1 A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-B Description: Based on a review of staff records and staff interview on 03/19/2019, the center did not ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. EVIDENCE: 1. The record of Staff #3, who's date of hire was 11/26/2018, did not contain documentation of completion for the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. 2. Staff #1 stated that Staff #3 completed the training, but didn't print the certificate. Plan of Correction: Will ask staff to print the certificate.
