- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included: 1. If a child has a food intolerance written by the parent, a written action plan is required so staff know what to do in the event of a reaction. 2. If a parent indicates there is someone not permitted to pick up a child, additional paperwork is required. We also discussed posted items.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:55 am - 12:45 pm. There were 12 preschool-aged children present with two staff. I observed children playing with toys, preparing to go outside, returning and preparing for lunch. I also observed lunchtime, toothbrushing and the beginning of naptime. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-A Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, staff and children's files were not locked as required. Evidence: They were located in a drawer in the desk. Plan of Correction: I have have a file that can be locked. It will be installed in the center.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation during the inspection, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place during the inspection. Evidence: In the children's bathroom, a high cabinet where cleaners were stored was observed to be unlatched. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-C Description: Based on observation today, there was only one staff member present with children at the beginning of the inspection. Evidence: Staff # 2 was alone with 12 children from 10:55 am - 11:25 am. Plan of Correction: She was taking classes and was late. I will readjust the schedule to make sure there are always at least two people.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-530-A Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there were no staff present with complete first aid and CPR training. Evidence: Staff # 1 and Staff #2 had documentation of CPR and First Aid training that took place on- line, but no documentation of completing the rest of the training as required. Plan of Correction: They will be scheduled for this as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-H Description: Based on staff confirmation and a review of records today, there was no documentation of a food health inspection of the catering service being used for lunches. Plan of Correction: We will get it and have it posted.
