Consultation provided on medication authorization.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director, who was present with three additional staff and 47 children. The children were doing homework at the beginning of the inspection and then played ball games in the adjoining gym. For snakc, the children were provided sun chips and juice. Fourteen medications were reviewed for seven children. Five staff and eight children's files were reviewed today. Arrival time: 4:35 pm Departure time: 6: 20 pm
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on a review of fourteen medications for seven children, it was determined that the medication authorization had not been renewed. Evidence: The Epipen for child A had an physician authorization that expired on 10/19/18 with parent authorization expired on 12/20/18. The Benadryl for child A had a parent authorization that expired on 12/20/18. Plan of Correction: We will have the parents and physician submit up to date authorizations.
