Comments:
Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 10:45am and 12:45pm. At the start of the inspection there were a total of 23 children with 4 staff; all ratios were incompliance. A total of 5 children?s files and 5 staff files were reviewed. Seven medications and authorizations were reviewed. The children were observed playing outside, eating a morning snack, washing hands and going home with their parents. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on observation and record review, the center has kept emergency medication on-site longer than 10 days without a long-term authorization signed by the child's pediatrician. Evidence: Child #6 has two medication authorizations for two separate medications. Each authorization is signed by the parents only.

Plan of Correction: The parents are aware that the bottom portion of the authorization needs to be filled out. They said they will bring it in on Friday.
