An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:25am-11:45am. There were 35 children (3-6yrs.) supervised by 4 direct care staff. The physical plant, 2 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in a variety of Montessori activities, including working with cursive letters, creating world maps, washing tables, watering plants, completing puzzles, and more. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on a review of medications, 1 of 6 children's medications did not meet the required methods to prevent use of outdated medication. Evidence: Child #1's (start date: 8/30/2017) Epi-Pen expired 2/2019. Plan of Correction: The medication will be returned to the parent today and returned when school re-opens.
