Relating to a more effective ways to complete annual updates.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 9:30 am 11:45 am. There were 22 children in direct care and 3 staff members. Children's/staff records, Liability Insurance, Fire/Health Inspections, emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed. The children were observed working on math skills, Easter projects and preparing for snack. Hand washing was also observed. There were no medications on site today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C Description: Based on staff record review, the center did not ensure that at least every two years from the date of the first initial screening, staff members shall obtain and submit the results of a followup tuberculosis screening, Evidence: Staff #2 does not have a current tuberculosis screening. Plan of Correction: I will have staff member complete TB screening as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on review of children's files, the center did not maintain and keep at the center a complete record for each child enrolled. Evidence: 1) Child # 4's file does not have documentation of a physical within 30 days of attendance. 2) Child # 5's file does not have documentation of immunizations on the first day of attendance. Plan of Correction: I will get the information from parents and put in children's file
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-H Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that cosmetics, medications or other harmful agents shall not be stored in areas, purses or pockets that are accessible to children. Evidence: 1) In the Pre-K classroom a purse was sitting on a desk. 2) In the 2's classroom a purse was sitting open on a cabinet. Plan of Correction: I will speak to the staff and remind them to put purses away.
