An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on April 17, 2019, between the hours of approximately 10:25 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Forty-nine (49) children were in the care of six/seven staff members, in six classrooms, during the on site inspection. Two additional staff members were present and assisted, as needed. Five children's records and five staff records were reviewed and/or updated. Two children's medications and three children's medication authorization forms were reviewed. Posted information (license, licensing inspection documentation, emergency evacuation diagrams/plan, emergency telephone numbers, menu, asbestos notification and classroom schedules), safety equipment (first aid kits, flashlights and radio) and available documents (emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drill records, attendance records, injury reports, required policies, and asbestos documentation were reviewed/discussed. The daily schedules and the menu accurately reflected the activities provided and the meals/snacks served. The lunch served on this date included corn dogs, mixed vegetables, applesauce and milk. Program observation was completed. Activities observed on this date included: outdoor play; indoor play with classroom materials/toys; painting; playdoh; coloring Easter eggs; stories; restroom and handwashing procedures; lunch; naptime; and arrival/departure of children. The children also enjoyed a special visit from the Easter bunny. Staff/child interactions were observed to be positive and the individual needs of children were met. The facility was observed to be clean and supplied with a variety of age/stage appropriate learning and play materials/toys. The playground was not in use by the children due to needed maintenance, which has been scheduled for this weekend. Substantial compliance continues to be maintained with the licensing standards; no violations of standards were cited during this inspection.
