An unannounced Renewal Inspection was conducted today from 8:20am to 10:45am. There were 52 infants to 5 years of age directly supervised by 11 staff. The physical plant, 6 staff records, 12 children?s records, 4 children's medications and medication authorization records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, listening to stories, going outside to play and eating breakfast. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was a sufficient supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure that hazardous substances are kept in a locked place using a safe locking method. Evidence: 1) Observed in the Preschool classroom, an unlocked cabinet with restroom and glass cleaner. 2) Observed in the Pre-K classroom, an unlocked cabinet with TB disinfectant, restroom cleaner and glass cleaner. Plan of Correction: Corrected at the time of the visit.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure that when food is brought from home it is clearly labeled with the owner and the date. Evidence: Observed in the Discover Preschool room and the Pre-K room, food in children's cubbies that were not marked with their name or dates. Plan of Correction: Will have individual conversations with families.
