Technical Assistance:
Discussed recent fire inspection and interior fire doors.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:20am-11:30pm. The inspector observed 33 children directly supervised by 5 staff and parent volunteers. The physical plant, 3 staff and parent volunteer records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, group singing, and reading playing outside. One class was preparing for a snack of apple slices, wheat crackers and water. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the The center was clean and organized. Interactions between staff and children were positive and constructive in nature. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, not all equipment in the center was maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: On the playground, one tricyle was observed to be missing the rubber handlebar grip. The exposed handlebar is a hollow metal tube which can cause a finger to become entrapped.

Plan of Correction: We will fix the bike. We will either locate the missing grip or use duct tape to ensure the hole is covered.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, not all hazardous materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In Room 1 a bottle of spray floor cleaner was observed inserted into a spray mop in an area of the classroom accessible to children. The warning label on the bottle states to "Keep out of reach of children."

Plan of Correction: During the inspection the bottle of cleaner was removed and put into a locked place.
