Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 1:45 - 4 pm. There were 39 children present with 5 staff. I observed naptime and transition to snack, where a birthday was celebrated and children chose their preferred cupcake by "coding" their flavor presence. I also observed children coloring, practicing folding pajamas, singing and involved in dramatic play. Records and medications were well-organized. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, supervising staff were not able to always ensure children's care and protection as required. Evidence: At the beginning of the inspection, staff were unable to access children's files when the key was not available. After 20 minutes, the owner of the center was able to open the file cabinet to access files.

Plan of Correction: This is a week before the director will be returning from maternity leave, and the teachers were not able to find the key today. Corrected during inspection.
