An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 9:00 am-11:15. There were a total of 56 children with 10 staff members present. Children were observed engaged in group activities, beading, lacing, manipulatives and outdoor play time. The playground and surfacing was inspected. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. Background checks for board officers were reviewed, some were missing. The director will forward the results to the Inspector for review. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the physical plant and playground, areas inside and outside are not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: Molding around the window in room #3 has fallen off, exposing sharp nails at he level of the children. The green slide on the playground is not properly anchored into the ground which could cause the slide to tip over injurying children. The dome climber on the playground is not anchored into the ground which could cause the dome to tip over, injuring children. Plan of Correction: The strip of molding will be replaced along the window sill. The slide and dome were removed from the playground during this inspection.
