An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. There were 52 children in care, with a total of 9 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. Children's records, staff records, staff training, background checks, children's nutrition, classroom programming, staffing patterns, staff:child interactions, emergency preparedness items, the physical plant, and administrative documents were inspected today. The children were observed playing outside, attending soccer class, reading books, eating lunch, and enjoying various classroom Montessori activities. The children were served chicken patties, bean soup, wheat bread, sliced oranges, and milk for lunch today. This inspection was completed between approximately 9:45am and 12:00pm. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-K Description: Based on a review of administrative documents, it was determined that the playground safety plan is not complete. Evidence: The playground safety plan does not include a statement indicating staff responsibility for maintaining an adequate level of resilient surfacing. Plan of Correction: I will add the information to the plan.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-N Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two children were allowed to drink while walking around. Evidence: While in the Toddlers classrooom, the Inspector observed two children walking while drinking from their water bottles. The Inspector told the staff person to have the children sit down while drinking. Plan of Correction: All staff will be reminded to make sure all children sit down when eating or drinking.
