Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, 5/7/19 and a review of staff records was conducted on 5/10/19. There are four classrooms with a total of 62 children and 10 staff present during today's inspection. A violation notice was completed regarding the violations found during the inspection. The classes went outside to the playground, participated in circle time, lunch and nap time. Should you have a question please do not hesitate to contact me. Inspection began: 11:40 am and ended 1:30 pm, on 5/10/19 began 10:00 am ended 12:30 pm.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure that the outside areas are being maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The grass on the playground measured approximately 8-10 inches in most areas, making it difficult for the children to run and could harbor ticks and mosquitoes. 2. The picnic table on the back side of the playground has a wooden pole that is broken with sharp edges. This is accessible to the children.

Plan of Correction: The maintenance has been notified to cut the grass and to cut the sharp edges off of the wooden pole.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-450-A
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure that the children had bottom covers on the mats. Evidence: 1. During nap time the children did not have a bottom cover for their rest mats.

Plan of Correction: The staff will be instructed to put the bottom covers on the rest mats when children are resting.
