Technical Assistance:
Technical Assistance was offered for the following: Placement of infant cribs away from windows with blinds if being used, children's records.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:00 am-2:00pm. 58 children were in care with 14 staff members present. Children were observed eating lunch, washing hands, singing songs during circle time, playing outside and preparing for nap. The lunch menu included chicken fajita, rice, fresh fruit, salad and milk. 5 staff and 5 children's records and emergency drill records were reviewed. Documents related to the probationary status of the center were also reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, equipment inside the center were not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. Two bins for a sensory table in the preschool classroom had broken edges, which could pose an injury hazard for children. 2. Two bins for sensory tables on the playground had standing water. 3. in the K-Prep and K-Prep 2 classroom cords for blinds were left hanging while the blinds were pulled up, posing a strangulation hazard.

Plan of Correction: The bins were removed from the classroom during the inspection. The water from the bins were dumped during the inspection. The blind cords were tied up during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-N
Description: Based on observation, a recalled product was not removed from the center and was being used by a child in care. Evidence: A recalled bumbo seat without safety restraints was being used by an infant in the infant classroom.

Plan of Correction: The bumbo seat was removed during the inspection.
