An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 2:15pm - 4:15pm. There were 38 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 7 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, playing outside, singing,being bottle fed, napping, and eating snack. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation, it was determined that there is not enough mulch in many of the fall zones on the playground. Evidence: There is not enough mulch at the bottom of each of the six slides, and beneath the climbing equipment. In each of these areas the resilient surfacing has worn down to a very thin layer of mulch and/or to the layer of dirt beneath the mulch. Plan of Correction: We will schedule mulch maintenance by the beginning of June.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain central registry results for a staff member within 30 days of employment. Staff#3's record does not contain a central registry check result. The staff member's first day of employment was documented as 2/1/2019. Plan of Correction: We have contacted the agency, we submitted the form on February 5th, but we haven't received the results.
