Technical Assistance:
As the summer weather approaches, please ensure that shade is provided on the playgrounds during the months of June, July and August.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 91 children with 16 staff present. All 10 classrooms were observed today. Observation of children outside on the playground was made. The lesson for this week is Oceans. Several art projects were completed and on display in a number of classrooms which consisted of mixed colored water bottles, paper mache jelly fish were hanging from the ceiling in the Art Studio Class. Topic webs were on display about oceans and outer space. The children in the Inventor's Workshop were busy manipulating moon sand. The children in the Think Tank class had observations of the butterfly habitat written. In Sound Stage, the class were presenting their graduation caps and had completed learning about the beginning, middle and end of a story. Positive interaction was observed between children and staff today. Nice transitions observed from lunch to nap time. Medications were reviewed, 10 children's records and 6 staff records were also reviewed. This inspection began at approximately 10:30am and ended at 2:15pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-140-A
Description: Based on review of children's records, 1 out of 10 records reviewed was found incomplete. Evidence: Child #1 began care on 2/4/19. The physical exam maintained in the record is dated 4/29/19. Documentation of physical exams must be obtained within 30 days of enrollment.

Plan of Correction: We had requested the health exam from the parent within the 30 days. We will reiterate the need to obtain them within 30 days of enrollment.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-B
Description: Based on observation of the Adventures Classroom, one topical ointment was accessible to children. Evidence: Sunblock was found on the bathroom sink in the Adventures Class. The sunblock was accessible to children in care that are under the age of 5 years.

Plan of Correction: We will secure the sunblock immediately.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3
Description: Based on a review of 6 staff records, one background check was not conducted for one staff. Evidence: An out of state Central Registry search was not requested for #5.

Plan of Correction: We will request this background search immediately.
