An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:20am-1:15pm. There were 74 children (infants-4yrs.) directly supervised by 11 staff. The physical plant, 7 staff records, 7 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, playing with small manipulative toys, being bottle fed, napping, playing outside, and eating lunch. Today's lunch consisted of Bean Sloppy Joe, whole grain bun, cole slow, orange wedges and milk. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Maria Soto at firstname.lastname@example.org or (571) 835-5058.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: In the infant room, an upper cabinet door over the sink area was observed coming loose and leaning to the right side. Plan of Correction: We will get it checked and fixed today if needed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-4 Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, ratios were not maintained in the Caterpillars and Butterflies classroom. Evidence: The classroom had 28 children (3 to 4 years old) with two staff members from 10:30am to 11:20am. For children from three years to the age of eligibility to attend public school, one staff member is required for every 10 children. Upon checking ages of children in the classroom, it was determined that the classroom needed an additional staff member. Plan of Correction: We will make sure that we have enough staff in case people call-out.
