63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Technical Assistance:
Discussed the location of cots when occupied by children. Walk thru of anticipated summer camp/after school area was made, suggestions for physical plant compliance was made.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 189 children with 45 staff present today. Observation of all 14 classrooms was made. Staff interviews conducted and children observed finishing lunch and transitioning to nap time. The center was decorated throughout with artwork and projects focused on insects. Parts of the Insect was on display, hand painted insects were drying in the hallways. The topic of tunnels was discussed in one class and a cardboard tunnel project was created to educate the children on gravity, velocity and distance. Infants were either being held by staff while feeding. Hand washing, bathroom and behavioral guidance was observed during this inspection. A total of 10 children's records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Food allergies were identified, documented and staff stated this information is updated school wide on a monthly basis. Description: Based on review of 10 children's records, 4 out of 10 records reviewed did not contain additional immunizations every six months for children under the age of 2 years. Evidence: Child #1's most recent documented immunizations is dated 10/5/2018, Child #2's most recent documented immunizations is dated 6/25/18, Child #4's most recent documentation is dated 6/12/18 and Child #5's most recent is dated 5/10/18.

Plan of Correction: We will develop a system to better track the need for updated immunizations.
