An announced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director and staff. 25 children were in care with an age range of seven months to ten years old. Children were observed during outside time, free play and movie time. Two staff were current in MAT, All staff are current in First Aid and CPR. All required paper work was posted. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation not all staff and children hands were washed after a diaper change. Evidence: staff in the Two's room did not was their hands after changing a diaper. The staff also did not was the child's hands after changing the diaper. Plan of Correction: Staff will be retrained on diaper changing procedures.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation the staff did not have the children in the class room with in sight supervision while changing a diaper. The Center did not have a covered foot operated receptacle for soiled diapers. Evidence: Staff in the Two's room change two children's diapers with her back to the other children in the room. The staff threw the soiled diaper out in a open trash can. Plan of Correction: A foot operated diaper pail was placed in the rooms and the diaper changes table will be moved and the staff will be able to see the entire room.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-620-A Description: Based on observation not all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place. Evidence: In room one there was a container of Ajax stored in the children's bathroom. Plan of Correction: Removed during the inspection.
