The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced focused inspection on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, to confirm that the provider is in compliance with supervision standards. The inspector was on site on June 18, 2019 from 8:41am to 10:30am. Interviews with staff were completed and observations were made at the center. The inspector observed several areas of the center. If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at (804) 662-9038.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-C Description: Based on observation and an interview, the center did not ensure that when children are regularly in ongoing mixed age groups, the staff-to-children ratio applicable to the youngest child in the group applied to the entire group. Evidence: The inspector observed up to 18 children, ranging in age from 16 months to four years old, in the two year old classroom with two staff supervising the children from 8:41am to 9:03am. During an interview, it was revealed that the toddlers, twos, threes and fours are regularly combined in the morning from 6:00am to 9:00am. The ratio for the regularly combined group is applicable to the youngest child in the group. The youngest child observed in the group on the day of the inspection was 22 months old. Therefore, the applicable child-to-staff ratio was 5:1. Plan of Correction: We will make sure that all classrooms are in ratio.
