An announced monitoring inspection was conducted on June 21, 2019 to review staff records. The licensing inspector reviewed administration, staff qualifications and training, background checks and license and registration procedures. The sample size consisted of three staff records. Areas of noncompliance are identified on the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-C Description: Based on record review, in one of three staff records reviewed, the licensee did not ensure that staff who work directly with children shall annually attend 16 hours of staff development activities that shall be related to child safety and development and the function of the center. Evidence: The program director verified that Staff #2 completed 6.5 hours of training from March 13, 2018-March 13, 2019. Plan of Correction: Director will have a conversation with the staff member to talk about training hours and give her sites which she can go on to complete the training.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on record review, in one of three staff records reviewed, the licensee did not obtain a copy of the results of a search of the central registry maintained pursuant to ? 63.2-1515 and any child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry maintained by any other state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years. Evidence: The program director verified that Staff #3 (date of hire 2/15/19) indicated on the Central Registry form as to living outside of the state of Virginia within the past five years and there was no documentation that the center had requested an out-of-state child abuse and neglect search. Plan of Correction: Director is currently looking at the requirements for that state and will complete the paperwork on Monday.
